Where are Ulu Soleil products made?
We’re proud to say that our products are all made locally in Malaysia.
Does Ulu Soleil use clean ingredients?
Yes, we like to keep things simple and natural, and using exclusively clean ingredients is a big part of that. We place high emphasis on ingredient quality, product purity and responsible sourcing - with a zero-tolerance policy for fillers and other nasties.
Where can I buy Ulu Soleil?
Besides our website and TikTok Shop, our goodies are available at an increasing number of resorts and stores - a full list is available here.
How can I get in touch with your team?
The best way is usually to drop us a message on IG, but if you’re old school, feel free to send us an email at hello@ulusoleil.com.
What is a body balm?
Our body balms are rich moisturising balms comprising of over 90% raw shea butter, combined with active ingredients to bring about amazing skin results.
How is a body balm different to a regular moisturiser/lotion?
Lotions and regular moisturisers are less viscous due to the high water content, which enables them to soak in more quickly but with significantly less moisturising effect. Conversely, body balms are solid due to the high shea butter content, and melt into the skin more slowly, whilst providing much great moisturising benefits.
How long does a balm last?
This depends on how often and over how much skin you apply the balm (basically how obsessed with using it balm you are!), but as a rule of thumb - a balm should last around 1 month.
What’s the difference between the 2 body balms?
Our HA balm target all things dry & flaky skin related - from slightly dry skin to flaky dry elbows to eczema & psoriasis.
Our retinol balm also makes great moisturiser - but the addition of retinol stimulates skin regeneration and cell turnover, which helps with fading dark marks, scarring, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks & fighting signs of aging.
Can I use both balms?
Most definitely - in fact, it’s encouraged! A perfect routine for this combo is to use the retinol balm before bed at night, and HA balm throughout the day.
Are the balms pregnancy/breastfeeding safe?
Our HA balm is completely safe for breastfeeding mammas and pregnant mamas-to-be, and is great for helping your skin cope with the demands of pregnancy.
However, it’s general recommended to avoid retinol whilst pregnant or breastfeeding, so we’d suggest saving the retinol balm until your pregnancy/breastfeeding journey has come to an end.
Can the body balms be used on kids?
Our HA balm is completely safe for use on kids (and even babies), whereas retinol is generally not recommended for use on children.
Are the balms safe for eczema/psoriasis/very sensitive skin?
Yes, in particular the HA balm, which has helped thousands of our customers manage their eczema & psoriasis. Retinol is slightly more potent, and so we advise spot testing the retinol balm first for those with sensitive skin or conditions such as eczema or psoriasis.
What is the packaging made from and does it last?
We are proud to say that our body balm tubes are made 100% from paper! Whilst plastic remains a more cost-effective and durable material, we remain committed to innovating environmentally friendly and plastic-free packaging solutions.
And though the edges of our plastic-free tubes may start to wear and fray slightly over time, they do remain functional throughout the lifespan of the body balm.Â
What should I use your scrubs for?
Use our scrubs to buff away dead and dry skin to reveal a softer, suppler version of you!
How often should I scrub?
There’s no hard and fast rule here - but we reckon 3 times/week is just about right.
What does the AHA in your Coco-Latte scrub do?
The AHAs (glycolic & lactic acid) soak deep into skin and break down the bonds between dead skin cells, resulting in a powerful chemical peel effect. This leaves skin smooth and healthy, whilst also helping to brighten dull skin and fade blemishes and hyperpigmentation.
Does the Glisten Shimmer scrub leave me covered in shimmer?
This delectable scrub will leave you with subtle ‘post vacation glow’ - but don’t worry, its subtlety means you won’t be shedding shimmer for days to come!
Are your scrub pregnancy and breastfeeding safe?
Yes, all of our scrubs are pregnancy and breast-feeding safe, so you can indulge as and when you please!
How effective is the SPF protection?
Our sun stick is a highly effective SPF50++++ sunscreen, which is the highest level of protection available. It's a broad spectrum sun screen, meaning it protects skin from both UVA and UVB radiation.
Is the sun stick water resistant?
Yes, our sun stick is water resistant making it perfect for the beach, outdoor activities, or just every day use!
Is it a chemical or mineral sunscreen?
Our sun stick is a chemical sunscreen, meaning that it uses chemical UV filters - hence it doesn’t leave a white cast.
What does the Niacinamide in your sun stick do?
Niacinamide is a pore-refining active ingredient, which we have added into our sun stick to ensure that it not only protects from UV damage, but also helps regulate oil production resulting in clearer and more even skin.
Will this sunscreen clog my pores?
We’ve formulated the sun stick to be very skin-friendly, meaning that it will not block pores for most people. In fact, we’ve often been told that the sun stick feels more like a skincare essential than a sun protection necessity!
